Big Fat Cheater!

Yesterday was Day 1 of my 10 day pre-op diet and I am a big, fat cheater!  It is my own fault.  I made cherry delight the night before...just happens to be the best cherry delight ever made!  I ate a piece yesterday morning when I got one for Monster.  Other than that, I was good!  But, I still cheated!  My calorie intake yesterday was probably right about 1100....675 of diet food and I'm going to guesstimate 400 for the cherry delight.

Even with the cheat, I'm down 2 pounds this morning.  I have been a good girl today and thus far have only a protein shake.  I'm getting ready to eat lunch which will be 3oz of fat free ham and 6oz of light yogurt.  Dinner will be the same or another protein shake.  That should make today's calorie intake approximately 670.  Can a person truly survive on that amount for 10 days?

  1. You'll survive...you'll be hungry the first few days, but you'll make it! My preop was around 1000 calories a day, but make sure you take your vitamins. I have to ask, what s Cherry delight? It sounds yummy (I love cherries!)

  2. Cherry Delight is sort of like cherry cheesecake.
    2c. crushed graham crackers
    1 stick margarine, softened
    1/4 c. brown sugar

Combine graham crackers and brown sugar. Melt margarine. Add to graham cracker mixture and mix thoroughy. Press evenly into bottom of 9x13 pan. Bake for 5 minutes at 350. Remove and cool.

2 8oz bricks of cream cheese, softened
    2 c. powdered sugar
    2 c. Cool Whip
    2 cans cherry pie filling

Combine cream cheese and powdered sugar. Mix thoroughly (a kitchen aid mixer is great for this...I almost burnt up my little hand mixer). Fold in cool whip. Smooth cream cheese mixture evenly over cooled graham cracker crust. Then spread cherry pie filling evenly over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

The whole family loves this and it's one of hubster's absolute favorites, so it lasts two days max around here.

P.S. This can be made better for the waist by using Splenda Brown Sugar and Powdered Sugar, reduced fat cream cheese, reduced fat cool whip and no sugar added pie filling.

  3. Like Stephanie said, the first few days you're hungry but soon it just sorta goes away. Cravings don't but you just have to remember, you will eat again. And it's not like we've never endured a few weeks of hunger before doing whatever crazy diets we've tried in the past.

You'll survive with that few of calories for a few weeks but shoot for the thousand. There's a big difference in how you'll feel. Especially energy-wise.

  4. OMG, my mom and aunt used to make that all the time. We called it uncooked cherry cheesecake (we had no imagination. We also made uncooked cookies.)

Don't forget if your body needs more calories it just uses the fat stored in your liver and elsewhere on your body. Which means you lose weight which is such a happy feeling. As long as you don't cheat on carbs you should do ok. You might need to cheat with an extra shake or chunk of protein but you'll do it. We all hated it but we did it (not always perfectly) but you can too.

    Have fun.
